OBITUARY
MARCEL WAVE INVENTOR
(Received June 3, 2 p.m.) PARIS, June 2. The death has occurred of Marcel Grateau, inventor of the Marcel wave, at the age of 84. He originally followed his father's trade as a stonemason, but his delicate health compelled him to take up hairdressing when he was dismissed for awkwardness. He curled shopgirls' hair for twopence per head until he had evolved a great idea enabling him to charge £40 for a wave for the full head.
