NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
It was decided at the monthly meetin c of the Council of the New Zealand Golf Association yesterday that the opening date of the national championship meeting would be fixed at October 15, unless the New Plymouth Golf Club preferred that it should be a week earlier. The open is to be played on the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, one round on each of the first two days, the leading seventy playing the last two rounds on the Saturday. On the Monday the inter-island match will be played, also a handicap event for amateurs. Tuesday will be devoted to the championship "foursomes, amateurs and professionals, the natch play fnr boMi the amateur and the professional championships commencing on the Wednesday as in previous years.
