OPERATIC SOCIETY
The secretary of the Wellington* Operatic Society (Mr. L. M. Cache maille) stated at a recent monthly meeting of the committee of the Wellington Operatic Society, over which Mrs. Knox Gilmer presided, that he had received a letter from Miss Ethel Morrison, of the "Fresh Fields" Company, wishing the society the best of luck in its forthcoming production of "New Moon." Miss Ethel Morrison started her stage career in Wellington as a member of the old Wellington Amateur Operatic Society. Several matters relevant to the next production were discussed, and the secretary reported that he had been informed that the musical scores ordered from England were due in Wellington in about ten days' time. Twenty-six new members were elected, but there is still a great demand for male members. The casting committee for the "New, Moon" production consists of Mr. Harison Cook (producer), Mr. J. F. Woodward (musical director), and Mr. W. A. Jameson, and a sub-committea to attend to advertising and publicity has Messrs. Herbert F. Wood, J. F. Woodward, and P. Bertram as its personnel. Chorus rehearsals are now well under way, the members all being very; keen and eager to attend rehearsals.
