FRIENDLY SOCIETIES
DOMINION COUNCIL MEETS
Today's meeting of the Dominion Council of Friendly Societies was presided over by Mr. C. H. Brascand, Christchurch, and was attended by about 40 delegates. The chairman's address and also that given by the Hon. W. Lee Martin (Minister in Charge of the Friendly Societies Department) are reported under another heading. Mr. C. Gostelow was also present and addressed delegates on Departmental matters. The membership of all friendly societies throughout the Dominion was stated to be 100,708, according to the latest statistical returns available, and almost 95 per cent, of these members vere represented on the council
