KING'S INTENTION

MAY RIDE IN THE ROW

There is a possibility, the "Daily •Telegraph" states, that the King, who gave up riding some years ago, may be seen riding in Rotten Row this year. He is unlikely to resume hunting, but may engage in riding for exercise.

King George frequently enjoyed an early morning ride in the Row. If King Edward is to follow his example, it would do much to enhance the popularity of the Row. _ . Already this year riding in the Row lias proved a more popular exercise than for many years. Livery stables report that even before Easter there was a higher demand for horses than usual. Many of the stables have had to increase the number of horses for hire. Some have decided to break their longestablished rule of refusing to hire out horses on Sunday afternoons. The increase in the number of riders has been general among all classes, people of limited means now find it possible to take up the exercise, as the cost of hiring horses has been greatly reduced. It is now possible to obtain a good mount for 8s an hour. There has been a great increase in the number of people who take their riding seriously. Two of the largest riding schools in London report that the increases of pupils this year has been exceptional. At one big riding school the number of children taking lessons has doubled. A firm with livery stables in several parts of the country states that the increase of riding, due to the decrease charges, has been general.
