QUEEN'S CATALOGUE

Queen Mary's recent decision to have her jewels catalogued was in* spired by a similar record made several years ago of her valuable art treasures (states an exchange). Although many of these were ceremonial gifts, a great number of them were presents from King George and the younger members of the Royal Family. Originally her Majesty kept lists of all her personal treasures in handwriting, but a|few years ago Sir Cecil Harcourt-Smith arranged to have them specially printed for her on vellum, bound with tooled leather. At intervals, as her possessions have increased, other "volumes have been added. Queen Mary is a real connoisseur of jade, and many pages in her "Catalogue of the Art Collection of Queen Mary" are devoted to photographs of her treasures, in this lovely stone, notably some of those purchased during her visit to India with King George.
