(Received May 30, 12.30 p.m.). LONDON, May 29. On the fourth day of the Epsom Meeting, the- following was the result I of the ' OAKS . STAKES,. a sweepstakes with £2000 added; second 10 per cent, and third 5 per cent, of whole stakes; for /three-year-old fillies; 1J miles. Lieut.-Colonel F. R. Macdonald's b f Lovely Rosa, by Tolgus— Napoule, 9.0 1 Sir F. Eley's b f Barrowby Gem, by Hurstwdod—Flower Show, 9.0 2 Lord Derby's br f Feola, by Friar Marcus —Aloe, 9.0' 3 ■ Seventeen started. Won by threequarters of a length, with two lengths between second and.third. (Winner bred by Mr. E. J. Hope, and trained by H. L. Cottrill.) ■ [Lovely Rosa raced five times as a two-year-old. She finished third to Vanbrugh and Flower Show in the Salisbury Stakes, 5 furlongs, second to Fair Ranee in the Queen Mary Stakes, 5 furlongs, and won the Kennet Stakes, 5 furlongs, from donation and Outbreak. She was unplaced in her other two starts last season. Barrowby Gem started in eight races as a two-year-old, and her only notable success was in the Sandown Park Stud Produce Stakes, which she won from a good field.' Feola, who is raced on lease by Lord Derby for the King, did not win a race last, season, but this year was successful in the Easter Handicap at Kempton Park, and finished second to Tide-way in the One Thousand Guineas.—"Ribbonwood."]
