EIGHT-OARED ROWING
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—l notice in this evening's "Post" a criticism from Mr. W. J. Wilson, president of the N.Z.A.R.A., to the effect that. it would be unwise to substitute inter-club eights for the interprovincial. eights. . May I state that apparently the wrong impression has been conveyed from the, Wellington Rowing Association's move. It is not intended to do away with the interprovincial eights, which we hope will remain as such, but we will endeavour to alter the rules of the ;N.Z.A.R.A. so as to allow a club eight-bared championship to be added to the yearly championship programme, even if in doing so it may mean abolishing either the pairs or double sculls titles, or both. The question of boats can be overcome by the local association's boats being made available, the best crew to have the choice of boats. I trust that you will make the Wellington Association's intention clear in your columns:—l am etc, .'."..'. '.-.-■■ J. E. SCANLAN, Secretary, Wellington Amateur Rowing Association. May 16/. .
