The, inspection "system : in primaryschools throughout the Dominion was discussed by delegates to the annual conference of the New Zealand Educational Institute last night, the Chief Inspector of Schools (Dr. J. W. Mcllraith) being present. Twelve recommendations dealing with inspection were considered, the more important suggestions made being that there should be some broader method of grouping teachers for inspection; that inspectors should encourage research and experiment; that opportunities should be given for teachers and inspectors to discuss problems; that there should" be refresher courses, for inspectors; that' inspectors should be: selected by the national board; and that inspectors'. salaries should be materially increased. ; ■ ■- .
