NOW ACCOMPLISHED FACT
COMPULSORY MEMBERSHIP
(By "Circle.") Insurance for women hockey players in the Wellington district is now an accomplished fact, and a long-felt want has been satisfied. -Many opinions on the subject were expressed at the annual meeting of the association, and several speakers gave those present the benefit of well-considered statements on the question. As a result of the discussion a committee was set up to -investigate the various aspects of players' insurance, "as applied 10 women"s hockey in Wellington, and it has been decided to introduce a compulsory system of insurance embracing all players in the district. Several important decisions had to be made. Among them was whether or not the scheme should be compulsory, what should be the amount of the subscription, and what shou^ be the maximum amount to be paid out in respect, of any single claim. It was decided that the premium should be Is per player, lo be added on lo the subscription each year. Should the player-be. injured she is entitled to claim 50 per ■ cent, of th° medical expenses up to two guineas! No large amounts can be guaranteed, but. the utmost will be done to see that injured players.. are assisted as much as possible. At the end of the season all claims during the year will come up for jeview, and' if any play°r has been seriously injured: the question of making an additional grant will be considered. Any surplus funds will be carried on to the next year Several means are being adopted to augment the fund, and an art unioti is being organised with this ! end in ] view. . .
