GRAFTON BRIDGE
INQUEST ON VICTIM

AUCKLAND, May 15,
A verdict of suicide while mentally ! depressed was returned by Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., at an inquest concerning the death of Maurice Hughes, a single man, aged 36, who fell from Grafton Bridge on, Tuesday afternoon. . Evidence was 'given by two men who were crossing the bridge that they saw Hughes look over the side of the bridge and climb on to the parapet. Hughes then lay on the parapet and rolled over into the gully below. Before climbing on to the parapet he said, "Good-bye," and threw some letters on the pavement. These -were picked up and handed to the police.
