P,earce, and S. .Blackley. were appointed as representatives of the council tp attend a conference.to be convened at an early date for the purpose of considering proposals for, the amalgamation of all or some of1 the local bodies, and submitting these to the Government. The matter of the flooding of Thorneycroft Avenue in the Epuni Riding was discussed and Councillor W. R. M. Pearce and the county overseer (Mr. H. Dyer) were appointed to go into the matter 'and report. A request for formal - consent to the Wellington City Council •to supply water to residents of Day's Bay adjacent to Williams Park was left'in the hands of the chairman. The council decided unanimously to continue its annual contribution to the Free Ambulance. On the motion of Councillor R. L. Button, a vote of appreciation was carried unanimously. "It's a pity that other local bodies do not contribute to such a valuable and efficiently-run service," said Councillor S. Blackley. ~ :■ . \ Authority was granted to the overseer to extend the sea wall at Plimmerton for a distance of 500 yards. The Hutt Valley Electric Power Board was granted permisison to replace suspended lights- by a bracket system, and it was decided that the council had no objection to trees in Wairere Road being cut down, pro.vided that it was done at the board's expense and risk.
