HUTT CLUB NOTES
Last Saturday's game showed up the weak points in the Hutt senior eleven to some extent, but the experience thus gained will help a good deal in curing weaknesses hitherto unknown to some of the players. These mistakes-were 'noticeable mainly in the forward line and an effort to rectify these is being made. Even though beaten Hutt were not disgraced and with any luck at all should have at least scored one more goal as K. Faulkner was unlucky not to increase the score from a penalty corner, the ball missing the net by inches. - C. Bollard at left-half was right on his game on Saturday and his co-oper-ation with his fellow-backs was excellent. Duncan at right-half played quite well for his first senior game and as the season .extends should develop into a sound back. Hutt's only goal was the result of good following in of the diminutive Fleet, the Hutt Club's "pocket battleship." The senior B team had a good win over Wesley B on Saturday and it reflects credit .to the leadership of L. Muir who held the team together throughout the game. N. R. Smith at left full-back played an outstanding game, placing the ball accurately to his forwards without a great deal of effort. G. Bullen at left-wing crowded his inside man far too frequently and spoilt some good moves down the left. F. Eagles played a fine game at centre-half and if he maintains this form, he should be a strong contender for the. first'eleven. Owing to the previous Saturday being wet the junior .team played their first competition game at Karori and suffered their; first defeat by. a somewhat big- margin, 9-1., j In spite of this the game was not as one-sided as the score-indicates and with a"little practice the team should develop into a strong combination. A dance is being held towards the end of this month and the Hutt Club is joining in with the ladies' club for this occasion and if it turns i out as well as is indicated both clubs will benefit from it to some extent. At present in the Hutt Club there is a deficiency of coaches and old members are requested to offer their services. As the Hockey Association has alloted June 20;, a programme has been arranged for jubilee celebrations and all old members and friends are invited to attend.
