GIRLS TO THE FORE
HELPING Y.W.C.A.
;;'."Over 1000 girls use this building each week," said the general secretary of the local Y.W.C.A. on Thursday, in outlining to a representative committee of business girls, the. way in which, during the past few years, the association has come to be a girls' community centre. Every two years the girls of the city havevbeeni instrumental in carrying through a large finance drive on behalf of the Y.W.C.A;, and the committee which met last night for tea and discussion l^as the preliminary one to decide-;the, main points of the forthcoming drive, in June. . It is encouraging indeed, it was, stated, to havethe approval of managers' and directors of Wellington's business .houses, and the present indicated their, willingness and keenness to set once, again a sum'of £500 as the goal to be, achieved. ■ Many ideas'as to a colourful scheme round which to build the drive were tossed back and forth and it was left in the hands of a sub-committee composed of Misses M. Harrison, C Morris, Black, and ■ McCrea to submit a detailed plan to the next city girls' committee which, will take place on Tuesday. Interesting ideas for the launching function were also discussed and. the whole drive promises to be a gay, and successful, one. . .
