RESIDENTIAL NURSERY HELP

(From "T^e Post's" Representative.) The Lower Hutt Branch of the Residential Nursery met recently at tlie home of Mrs. W. Nash, when Mrs. Burgess presided. Plans were discussed for the grand children's party to be held next week in the Returned Soldiers' Association rooms. At the next visit of the .committee to the nursery rooms in June, it was decided to make a gift of soap. Tea was served by the hostesses for the afternoon, Mesdames Flux and Campbell. Ball at Lower Hutt. The arrangements for the Red CrossPlunket ball, which will be held in the King George Theatre, Lower Hutt, are well in hand. The combined committees are sparing no pains to make this year's ball a thorough"success. The decision .to share the proceeds with the Plunket Society is having a good effect by arousing more interest, and the finances of the Plunket Society will be assisted. An excellent dance band has been engaged, and the ladies will supply the supper. . The hall decorations will again be a feature of the evening. " Special arrangements have been made, for the convenience of Wellington visitors. Street Appeal. The annual "street day" appeal of the Homes of Compassion took place .on Friday. The helpers, under the leadership of Mrs. N. O'Shea, met with a good response. A stall in the centre of the town, opposite the Post Office, was laden with cakes, flowers, vegetables, and sweets, and did good business:, while helpers canvassed the town; and a house-to-house collection was made. Hutt Personals. Mrs. Bailey (Te Awamutu) is spending a short holiday with her aunt, Mrs S. M. Hobbs. Mrs. W. Olphert is spending a holiday touring round the coast of New Zealand. Miss K. Kempthprne is visiting.the South Island, touring from Nelson to Dunedin. Miss Patricia Marshall has left for a holiday visit to Marton, where she will be the guest of Miss Arkwright Miss M. Bates has left to spend a holiday in Auckland. Miss Gertrude Mather is staying with Mrs. N. M. Weir at her home at Belmont.
