TAITA CEMETERY BOARD
At the annual meeting of the Taita Cemetery Board, held yesterday afternoon, the chairman (Mr. J. Mitchell) m JL re?? rt for the year ended March I ffated* ated tnat the shrubs and grounds at the cemetery were doing well and making rapid growth. The grass lawns were looking well, and, since being topdressed, had a fine sole. Instructions had been given for more paths to be laid down in the new portion of the cemetery. It would be advisable to obtain- prices for forming and gravelllnS,tne traffic road leading to the top of the Roman Catholic portion of the cemetery on the eastern side. Gorse was coming away rapidly, and it would be advisable to grub it during the ensuing summer. It was reported that a big improvement had been effected by the widening, of portion of Cemetery Road. The resignation of Mr.'J. W. McEwan was received, and it was decided to place on record appreciation of his services. . . Prior to the meeting the trustees inspected the cemetery. Mr. F. S. Hewer was elected chairman of the board, in succession to Mr. Mitchell, who was chairman for over thirteen years. Mr. Mitchell said he could hot find time to pay as much attention to the cemetery as he wished. Appreciation of his services was placed on record.
