Thousand Guineas, was decided on the second day of the Newmarket First Spring Meeting today, and the result was:— " TWO THOUSAND GUINEAS STAKES, a sweepstakes with 2000gs added; second 10 p.c. and third 5 p.c. of whole stakes; for. three-year-old colts and fillies; Rowley. Mile (1 mile). ■ . . v . " ;■._ Lord Astor's br c Pay Up, by Fairway—Book Debt; 9.0,.'..' 1 H.H. Aga Khan's gr c Mahmoud, by Blenheim—Mah Mahal, 9.0 2 Mrs. J. Shand's br c Thankerton, by Manna —Verdict, 9.0 .......... 3 Nineteen started. Won by a short head; three lengths between second and third. Pay Up raced four times as a two-year-old. He finished third to Vesta and Doublure in the Sorrel Plate, second to Tideway in the Fulbourne Stakes, second to Thrustaway in the Great Kingston Plate, and at his last start of the season he won the Manchester Autumn Breeders' Foal Plate, of five furlongs, from Silver Crest and Castel St. Angelo. '
