HASTINGS, This Day.
In consequence of continual losses of goods from its store, a Hastings firm set a trap, having two employees sleep on the premises, and as a result there appeared before the Court today James Baxter, a police constable, and William Edward Cleaver, a nightwatchman. They were charged with being found on business premises at night with intent to commit a crime. Both were remanded till May 1. An application on behalf of Cleaver for bail was refused.
