ITALIAN EXPECTATION
RESULT OF RECENT SUCCESS
ROME, April 9.
The Government Spokesman has expressed the opinion that in view of her recent success Italy expects to be able to conclude peace in a few weeks.
Marshal Badoglio claims that the victory of Lake Ashangi has enabled the occupation of 23,100 additional square miles of territory, bringing the total in Italian hands to 28,000 square miles. The farthest penetration from Eritrea' is 186 miles. The French Ambassador saw Signor Suvich and is reported to have clarified France's attitude regarding sanci tions.
