RANDWICK'S SECOND DAY
The ' Australian jockey Club's Autumn Meeting, which opened at Rgndwick today, will be continued on Monday. In Victoria the Williamstown Racing Club's Easter Meeting which opened today, will be concluded on Monday. The principal event at Randwjck will be the Sydney Cup, £5000 and gold cup valued at £200, 2 miles Second horse will take £ 800 and third horse £400, so the minor places are worth filling. The race will be decided at ab0ut.4.55 p.m. New Zealand time Twelve months ago the Dominion horses Master Brierly and Gold Trail were fourth and fifth respectively in the . event, which was won. by the lightweight Akuna from Dark Chief and Sylvandale. No New Zealand owner has ever won the Sydney Cup, but the famous Carbine, then owned in Australia, was victorious in two successive years under 9.0 and 9.9 respectively. In the last decade Limerick and Admiral Drake have filled the role of runner-up. The other events on Monday will be:—La Perouse Handicap, £1000, 6 furlongs; Easter Plate, £1000, for two-year-old fillies, 7 furlongs. Biraganbil Handicap, £650, for three-year-olds, 1 mile; Wentworth Handicap, £650, for two-year-olds, 6 furlongs; and Tocal Handicap, £650, lowest weight 7.0, 1£ miles. On the second day twelve months ago Silver Jubilee wonthe La Perouse Handicap and The Raider the Biraganbil Handicap for New Zealand breeders. At Williamstown the main event will be the Easter Cup, £1000, 2 miles. Greenhorn will provide a Dominion interest in the race, as he is still owned by his breeder, Mr. W. R. Kemball.
