HUTT VALLEY CONTEST
MCARTHUR & HENRY SHIELD
Play commenced yesterday on the Central and Woburn greens in the annual competition for the McArthur and Henry Shield. The total number of rinks entered was 22, comprising six each from Woburn, Central, and Lower Hutt, and two each from Petone and Upper Hutt.
Ideal bowling • conditions prevailed, and the greens were in first-class order. Several closely-contested games resulted, some good bowling being witnessed. It was noteworthy that as the result of yesterday's play no one rink secured three wins. The post-section play will take place on Monday on the •Central green.
A summary of yesterday's play is as follows:—
