PUBLIC SCHOOL BOYS
ENTERTAINED BY CABINET
< The representatives of fifteen English public schools who have made a brief tour of the North Island after completing a visit to Australia'were entertained at afternoon tea by members of the Cabinet yesterday afternoon, the Hon. P. Fraser. (Minister of Education) representing the Prime. Minister, who was engaged in Parliamentary business. Representatives of educational bodies in Wellington, including two pupils from each of the secondary schools, were invited to meet the young Englishmen and there was a very pleasant exchange of greetings, in which a number of members of the House took part. Speeches of welcome were made by the Hon. P. Fraser on behalf of the Government, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes (Leader of the Opposition), and the Hon. W. E. Barnard (Speaker of the House of Representatives), who conveyed a welcome from its memMr ~H D Hake, who is in charge of the party- of twenty-three visitors stated in his acknowledgments that even although the visit had been short, they had experienced -wonderful hospitality, and had found that New Zealanders were extremely friendly. The party's tour was really through Australia, and the next organised tour would be to Canada, followed shortly afterwards by the organisation of another party to visit New Zealand. The visitors leave for England by the Rangitata.
