SCHEELITE MINER KILLED

INVERCARGILL, April 6.

An accident occurred at what is known as The Battery, near Glenorchy, on Saturday afternoon," resulting in the death of John William Jonas Clingin, a scheelite miner, aged 34. He was a married man and resided at Glenorchy.

Clingin, with a mate, William Ernest Tyree, was working in an open shaft picking scheelite. Tyree walked over to his coat to see the time, when suddenly a fall of rock weighing about a ton crashed down on top of Clingin, who was killed instantly. Tyree was unable to extricate him and gave the alarm, assistance being rendered by several residents.
