"QUEEN OF HEARTS."

Coming to the Jlcgcnt.

There may have been doubts in the past as to whether Gracie Fields has been given on the screen a story; cap. able of displaying her rich and vai«d talents. Those who see Queen of Hearts," her latest release, coming to the Regent Theatre as the Easter attraction, will realise that this is not now the case. Here is a story, rich in comedy, of a working girls love for an actor (John Loder), of how she tries to meet him and eventually succeeds, being mistaken for a wealthy woman who desires to put money into one of his shows. It would be unfair to tell of all the complications that follow, until at last Gracie gets her man. This is the first time that the star has had a happy ending in any of her pictures, and is the result of thousands of suggestions that came through a recent ballot. With unlimited opportunities for beautiful frocking the makers of the film have presented a new and altogether charming Gracie Fields. There are many moments of .-uproarious comedy with Gracie in a wild motor-car drive, and again with her interpretation of. an Apache dance in which, after much rough handling, she gets the better of her partner. The new songs, which in several instances are given beautiful stage settings, are bound to be heard much in the near future, and include "Queen of Hearts" and the popular "My. First Love Song." John Loder gives one of his best performances to date and others in the supporting cast include Enid Stamp-Taylor and Anthony Kimmins. Monty Banks produced the picture, and adds another entertaining and amusing film to his already long list of successes. A 'feature of the supporting programme will be the appearance on the stage of the Trevor-Dawn Trio, who will present a "Burlesque Adagio Extraordinary." ■
