VALEDICTORY GATHERING
An enjoyable social evening was held on Monday in the Council Chambers at Eastbourne when the Mayor (Mr. E.-W.'Wiste)' and councillors, with their wives, met toifarewell the borough engineer ; (Mr. W. J. Frethey) and Mrs. Frethey, Mr.; Frethey having been ap-1 .pointed Clerk-engineer to the Weber County Council. Opportunity was taken by:the Mayor and several councillors to express regret at the departure of Mr, Frethey and to pay tri.triite'/'to the!; good work carried out by him during his term of service with the .council.' -/ On behalf of the staff, the;:Towjn Clerk (Mr. C. L. Bishop), in making; a?'sinall presentation to Mr; and Mrs. Frethey, wished them every success in-; their new sphere. The Mayoress,--, on behalf of the ladies, pre-, sented Mrs. Frethey with a bouquet.1 During the evening items were rendered by Mrs. C. L. Bishop and Miss A. BdWie.
