MANX SOCIETY
- The Manx1 Society held its first danae social of the season in the Rechabite Hall,.,.Willis. Street, recently, when there Was'a good attendance of members and'friends, and an enjoyable programme, of song and dance was pro-, vided,', Mr. S. Clarke was M.C.
.'The-president, Mr. J. J. Watterson, extended a/welcome to. all present, and specially; ■'to the Bey. Mr and Mrs. Costain, who recently arrived to take up residence in this city. Opportunity was also taken to wish bon voyage to Mjgs'.E, Hughes,, who leaves for a trip to-England at an early date.
• Songs were-contributed by the Hey. Mr. Costain, and Miss Hood, and were much appreciated.' Delightful exhibitions of-dancing were given by Misses Graham and Hood. Mrs, Paterson, Miss Daniels, and Miss Margaret Oates provided the accompaniment,
A very interesting and informative talk was given by Mr. J. Paterson on life and conditions in Rarotonga. This was suitably illustrated with lantern slides from photographs taken by Mr. Paterson during his residence in the Islands. Supper was handed round by members of the ladies' committee. Mr. D. Clarke provided suitable music for the dancing. The singing of "Auld Lang Syne" concluded proceedings.
