PIGEON RACING
The Hutt "Valley Homing Pigeon Club flew their race from Taihape on Saturday last, an airline distance of 115 miles. Results:—Mr. Smith's bird, 927.8 yards per minute, 1: Mr. Clark and Son's bird, 912.5, 2; Mr. Reid and Son's bird, 84.0.5, 3; Mr: Andrews's bird, 837.8, 4; Mr. Bold and Son's bird, 833, 5. These were the only lofts timing in on the day. The Petone Homing Pigeon Club flew two races during the weekend—a flock race from Waiouru (129 miles airline). Fifty-five birds competed, .representing nine members. The weather was against the birds, as only four members timed in on the day. The second race was an interval orte from Hunterville (96J miles). This race proved disastrous, as only two members limed in. • The following were the places:— From Waiouru: J. Bolton's B.C.H. (velocity 992vds per mm). 1; A. Bold and Son's B.P.H. (988), 2; W.
