SILK CORD'S RELATIONS
Silk Cord is a son of Silk Thread, an American importation who won several races for Mr. J. R. McKenzie. Silk Thread's best offspring is Royal Silk, winner of the Auckland and Wellington Cups, and second in a New Zealapetrova", dam of Silk Cord, was by Petereta (imp.), who sired many good winners, particularly trotters, these including Reta Peter, twice winner of the New Zealand Cup, and Peter Swift (Dominion Handicap). Petrova, although a short-bred mare of the coarse-grained kind, was a prolific producer of winners, outstanding of whom was Impromptu, 2min 4 l-o sec. Other useful sorts she left were Pet Locanda, Asset, Handicapper, May Chenault. and Silk Cord, all winners.
