Coming to the Plaza.
The favourite baritone,. Lawrence Tibbett, returns to the screen in "Metropolitan," the 20th Century production, coming to the Plaza Theatra on Easter Saturday, as the star, of S picture that sets new high standards in musicals. In the course of tha dramatic comedy, which traces the ad« ventures of a young, singer in pursuit of fame and. romance, Tibbett sings selections from the operas, "Carmen, "Pagliacci," and "The Barber oJ Seville," as well as a duo of populaß numbers. Romantic complications be. set Tibbett's path in "Metropolitan. In love with Virginia Bruce, he cannot reveal his inclinations becausa Alice Brady loves him. She is a temperamental prima donna, and Tib* bett's fate, and that of the company hang on her good will. The tempera* mental tantrums and didoes of opera* tic celebrities who surround Tibbett furnish many of the picture's comedj moments. The climax shows how this gallant band of performers rallj! round their leader and come through with a crashing success.
