INVESTIGATION !N ZANZIBAR

RUGBY, March 31.

The Colonial Secretary, Mr. J. H. Thomas, in consultation with the British Resident, has recently considered the position of the clove industry in Zanzibar, and it has been agreed, now that experience has been gained of the operations of the Clove Growers' Association, that the whole position should be investigated with a view to deciding if modifications are required in the general policy of the Government1 relating to cloves.

Mr. B. H. Binder, chartered accountant, has been appointed and will leave England on April 24 to review the position of the industry and report whether, in the permanent economic interests of the territory as .a whole, any, and, if so, what modifications are necessary or desirable in the existing system of control. ■
