COLONEL J. M. CHRISTIE

LONDON, March 31,

The death occurred suddenly today of Colonel Joseph MacNaughtao Christie.

Colonel J. MacNaughtan Christie, C.8.E., was born at Glasgow in 187J: and educated at Glasgow, Dublin, and Berlin. He later came to New Zea£ land, where he secured a position as surgeon on the staff of the New Plymouth Hospital. Subsequently he was surgeon and later consulting surgeon at the Wanganui Hospital, surgical spo cialist on the hospital ship Maheno in 1916-17, consulting surgeon 'to the forces in New Zealand, 1917-20, and president of the War Pensions Medical Appeal Board for New Zealand, 1921* 23. He was New Zealand representative on the League of Red Crosi Societies. He married Miss Vita Alic« Mary Bayley, elder daughter of Mr Reginald Bayley, New Plymouth.
