CONSULATES CLOSED

WASHINGTON, March 30.

As the result of repeated references to the Shah and to Iran (Persia) appearing in the American Press being displeasing to the Iranian Government, it has informed the State Department that it is closing its diplomatic and Consular offices in the United States in protest. The question has been repeatedly discussed by the Charge d'Affaires and Mr. Cordell Hull, Secretary of State, who, while stressing that American newspapers would gladly co-operate in any programme furthering friendly relations between the nations, indicated the freedom of the Press in the United States. : ' '
