SUCCESSFUL SOCIAL
The Lower Hutt Bowling Club held one of the most enjoyable socials of its history on Monday evening. About 50.members, their wives, and friends assembled to say au revoir to Mr. and Mr 3. Herbert Teagle and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Parker, who are making extended visits to the Old Country. Under the auspices of Mr. E. J. Hill a number of leading artists from Wellington and elsewhere gave most generously of their best, and were tumultuously received time and again. Mrs. Wilfred Andrews sang several of her finest songs, Mrs. C. W. Burgess sang charmingly, and Messrs. Hanson Cook, E. Gladstone, and E. J. Hill gave their favourite items. Elocutionary gems by Mr. Norman Aitken also enlivened the evening. The accompanists were Mrs. Noel Taylor and Mr. Frank ( Thomas. . ~ During the supper adjournment the president- (Mr. Robert Wilson) presented a small token of esteem to Mr. Fred Parker on behalf of the bowlers, and expressed the hope of members that the charms of England would not be great enough to hold him definitely from a welcome back within a year or so.
