AUSTRALIAN MONEY MARKET.
Commenting on the recent decision of the Commonwealth Government to test the open market with Treasury bills, the Sydney "Bulletin" observes: "It all points to a slight rise in interest rates lor first-class securities and to the possibility of bank credit being tightened up a trifle. . . . The situation that has developed suggests that the central bank, without the full support arid co-operation of the ■■ trading banks, may not be able to effectively control the course of interest rates and the volume of credit."
