Cable advices from Singapore indicate a steady flow of business in tapiocas for direct shipment to New Zealand with a firm market, subject to slight variations. Prices quoted for canned pineapples are described as low and at attractive levels. Peppers are firmly held with a disinclination to make sales. A private letter from Calcutta dated January 14 was to the effect that jute prices were high for the raw material and that hessians for near delivery were in short supply.
