"Restore public health and you will restore world trade," said Lord Astor in opening the session of Mr. Stanley; Bruce's Nutrition Committee. "Tactful skill would be required to persuade people that specific diseases ,are avoidable by improved dietary," he continued; "that physique can b« improved, robustness replace weakness, and that contentment and well-being can replace disharmony and discontentment. "If this is achieved the whole economic policy of certain nations may ba affected and the whole structure afi agriculture influenced. A marked increase in the demand for perishabia products such as milk and vegetables might result in farmers becoming less insistent on State help for sugar and wheat crops, leading -gradually to an increase in the international exchange of goods and thus to a restoration of world trade."
