IN. MEMORY OF THE KING
ARRANGEMENTS FOR TOMORROW
All arrangements have now been completed for the holding of commemorative services for his late Majesty King George V in Wellington churches tomorrow, and it is evident that thousands will make a point of showing once more their very real love and respect. Several parades will be held by ex-servicemen, and at other churches semi-parades will be arranged by those who attend.
At the Anglican Pro-Cathedra). Bishop Sprott wil) deliver the . commemorative address at the 11 a.m. service. His Excellency the GovernorGeneral (Lord Gal way i, representatives, of. the Government, the City Council, and the business community will be present. For the purpose of attending the evening service, the Wellington South African War Veterans' Association will hold a parade from Lambton Station, under the president, Captain J. J. Clark. This parade will be attended by representatives of Imperial, colonial, and Dominion units. At St. Mary of the Angels. Boulcotl Street, Solemn High Mass will be
celebrated in thanksgiving for favours received during the reign of the late King, and asking God's blessing on his successor, King Edward VIII. His Grace Archbishop O'Shea will preside at the Mass and preach the sermon. At St. John's Presbyterian Church, Willis Street, the memorial service will be conducted by the Rev. J. R. Blanchard. . • The Methodist service will be conducted at the Wesley Church, Taranaki Street, by the Rev. Percy Paris. Commemorative services will also be conducted in many other city churches. At St. Barnabas' Church, Roseneath, the services tomorrow will be at the usual times—B and 10.30 a.m. and 7 p.m. They will be services of commemoration of our late King, and there will be appropriate lessons, hymns, and music. Special services in commemoration of his late Majesty, King George V, will be held at St. Mary's Church, Karori. The Hon. Wm. Perry, M.L.C., president of the New Zealand Returned Soldiersj Association, has requested that all returned soldiers should endeavour to attend their respective churches for the memorial services. It is desired that as many as possible enter their respective churches in a body, wearing medals and decorations, as no formal parades will be held. The president and executive of the Wellington R.S.A. request that all returned soldiers of the Wellington district will endeavour to carry out the wishes of the president of the N.Z.R.S.A. in attending a memorial service. A church parade will be held tomorrow ev^.iing by the returned soldiers in Kilbirnie, Lyall Bay, and Melrose. They will assemble at the association's headquarters. Bay Koad, Kilbirnie, at 6.15, and will march from there to St. Jude's Anglican Church, Freyberg The decision of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers' Association not to hold formal parades has also been approved by members of the Old Contemptibles' Association in Wellington. They have decided to attend their respective churches weaving their decorations, and where there are a number at one church they will enter together.
