(By "Mainsail.") IDLE ALONG REPRESENTATIVE
The Idle Along trials have resulted in an Evans Bay boat, the Mayfair, being selected to represent Wellington in the championship contest. The struggle between the Mayfair and the Idle Along was a very strenuous one and there is little doubt that either of these boats would have equal chances of success in the championship. Eric Beck, or "Chum," as he is gene* rally known, is one of the most consistent skippers in Wellington, and can be relied upon to put up the best possible performance in any particular set of circumstances. Wellington should have excellent prospects in the contest and it would be very fitting if the honour of winning the cup for the first time was achieved by the centre, which is the birth-place of this class in New Zealand.
The combined function of the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club and the Evans Bay Yacht and Motor-boat Club last week can hardly be said to have been an outstanding success. Not only was the weather unfavourable but the holding of the Idle Along trials on the same day made it necessary to postpone the ordinary club races for this class.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE MAYFAIR
