FLOODLIGHT SPORTS
MEETING AT PETONE
Special arrangements have been made by the Wellington and Kiwi Amateur Athletic Clubs to floodlight the Recreation Ground at Petone for their annual; sports.. fixture with the Wanganui Club, to be held tomorrow night, at 8 o'clock. There will be a full programme of' inter-club scratch contests, and provision has also been made for open handicap events, including races for women athletes and cyclists. It is expected that a strong team of some twenty-seven will represent the Wanganui Club, and since the Wellington, and Kiwi. Clubs possess such prominent competitors as E. Forne, the New.Zealand mile champion; A. R. Wilson, holder of the provincial'mile title;' V. R. Walker and C. Robinson, sprints; and J. McDonald, hurdles, some fine contests can be anticipated. W. J. Fitzsimmons, Wellington sprint champion, will also be among the competitors in the open events.. It was expected tKat F. Grose, the crack Christchurch cyclist, would be a starter in the cycle races, but owing, to. the postponed Feilding meeting being held tomorrow, he will not be present. There will, however, be sufficient riders on hand to provide keen competition.
