Wales are regarded as unlucky not to defeat England, which fielded the same team as that which defeated the All Blacks. Neither fifteen was brilliant. The Welsh forwards caused a surprise by defeating the English pack, but the Welsh backs, lacking Claude Davey owing to injuries, were unable to exploit their chances. Obolensky was not menacing, Wooller and Cliff Jones being able to bring off tackles on the few occasion when he had a chance of scoring.
