WELLINGTON'S WIN
M.C.C. CAPTAIN'S TRIBUTE
A fine tribute to Wellington's performance against the M.C.C. team was paid by E. R. T. Holmes in a letter to the" Wellington captain (J: R. Lamason). The captain of the visiting team wrote:—"Just a line to thank you so much for the game that we played against you. It was easily the most thrilling match that we have had on this tour and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The fact that you beat us didn't upset us, so if you consider that it has done some good to your cricket locally, we shall be satisfied. You thoroughly deserved to win, and I want to congratulate you personally once again pn your success. Hoping to play against you in the New Zealand match, yours sincerely, Errol Holmes."
