THE BOWLING TOURNAMENT

With many-players eliminated yesterday, only two greens were in use this morning when post-sectional play was continued in the New Zealand bowling tournament. The play was at St. Albans and Barrington, and large crowds, watched the games. In striking contrast to the miserable conditions that have prevailed, for most of the tournament, the weather was fine and warm. The time limit is now operating on all games. The rinks must be finished within three hours, the pairs within two and a quarter hours, and the singles. within an hour and a half. The results were:— Singles.—First round, final draw: Alloo (Owaka) 20, Mclnnis (Temuka) 8. Alloo never looked like being beaten. He still has his two lives, and the title seems to be within his grasp. RINKS. St. Albans Green.—Two-lifers: Gagliardi (Edgeware) 23, Tyrrell (Roslyn) 21; Anderson (Dunedin) 22, Veitch (West Harbour) 14; Haworth (Canterbury), a bye. One-lifers: Livingstone (Onehunga) 29 (Gordon (Canterbury) 14; Smith (Kelburn) 19, Ramsay (Shirley) 15; Walker (Auckland) 28, Ure (Auckland) 21. Gagliardi, Anderson, and Haworth Have still two lives. Livingstone, J. R. Smith, Veitch, and Walker have one. Gordon, Ramsay, and Ure were eliminated.
Barrington Green.—One-lifers: Bull (Hawera) 24, Brighting (Hataitai) 15; Bremner (West End. Auckland) 22, Ferguson (Balmacewen) 15; Ives (Canterbury) 20, Wilson (Linwood) 14; Smith (United) 16, Beer (Napier) 14. Bull, Bremner, Ives, and E. A. Smith have a life, Brighting, Ferguson, Wilson, and Beer were eliminated. Two games will be played this afternoon. :
