OBITUARY
LORD FORSTER
(Received January 16, 11 a.m.) LONDON, January 15. Lord Forster died following an operation in a London nursing home.
Henry William Forster, first Baro.i Forster, P.C., G.C.M.G., was born in 1866 and would have been 70 years of age on January 31. He was educated at Eton and at New College, Oxford. | and played in the cricket elevens of | those institutions and for Gentlemen j v. Players. He married in 1890 a I daughter of Lord Montagu of Beau-| lieu. In 1902-3 he was a Lord Commissioner of the- Treasury, and in 191b--19 Financial Secretary of the War Office. He was in the House of Com-1 mons for twenty-seven years from 1892 j and at the end of that period was raise d | to the Peerage In 1919 he was ap-| pointed Governor-General of Australia for the term of five years. He was a , ' memfier of the Army Council, and, I leaves no heir. i
