AIR TRAGEDY
CRASH IN ARKANSAS
SEVENTEEN OCCUPANTS KILLED
NEW YOEK, January 15.
One of the most serious accidents in the history of American commercial aviation occurred near Goodwin (Arkansas) on Tuesday night, according to reports in the "New York Times." Fourteen passengers and three members of the crew of an American Airlines aeroplane were killed instantly when the craft crashed in a swamp. A few minutes before the accident radio reports from the aeroplane declared that all was well.
As the flying weather was favourable, ■ there is no immediate explanation of the disaster. It is reported, however, that the crash -was due to the loss r>f one of the propellers.
