KILBIRNIE SPEEDWAY.
A big programme has been arranged for Saturday night at Kilbirnie Speedway, when six international stars, Sam Arena and Manuel Trujillo (America), Bill- Clibbett and Stan Greatrex (England), Lionel Van Praag (Australia), and W. Kilmister (New Zealand), will be seen in a three-cornered Test match to be conducted under international team-racing rules, with four starters in each heat, racing on a points basis fronr the electrical starting-gate. The American team will be captained by the star rider, Sam Arena, who put up a splendid performance last Saturday night, and has established himself in Wellington as a popular favourite The English team will be led by Clibbett, whose, partner, Greatrex, should render able support. The Englishmen are adepts at this type of competition, and fight every inch of the ground to gain the lead at the corners The colonial team, Van Praag, representing Australia, and Kilmister, New Zealand, will be the favourites for the match, and as both these riders have long experience in team-racing conditions on the Wembley track, England, their riding should be attracAn additional attraction on Saturdaynight will be the introduction of rnid-cel-car racing, in which the ex-speed-way star, Clarrie Tonks, will be opposed to a new Wellington driver, W. McMillan, whose specially-built midget, powered by a four-cylinder engine, has produced some surprising speeds in practice. The local speedway riders will be competing- in • two handicap events, and the evening's programme promises to produce one of the best night's sport yet seen at Kilbirnie.
