"A LITTLE PARADISE"

SUN-TANNED CAMPERS

The;,crowd -of sun-tanned campers who'returned this 'week from the i Y.W.C.A;1! business girls' holiday camp at ■ Davies' 'Bay, Queen Charlotte Sound, give every indication of having spent two .glorious weeks in one of Nature's loveliest retreats. It would be hard to find-a more delightful bay than Davies' Bay, with its towering, bushclad: hills encirclingx little coves and sheltering the waters of the bay, making mirror-like effects , upon the sea.

The camp .was. situated [in a grassy clearing, dotted with daisies and wild flowers, and witfi thick bush on three sides. ' Accommodation consisted of a roomy old house, augmented by light tents. A clear, cold mountain creek flowing .past the camp provided lent drinking water in the upper levels, cool storage for milk and butter in the middle, and a delightful ferny bathroom '■ lower;. down. At' all times during the day. and in the evenings, the glorious; notes of tuis could* be heard, and one enterprising camper discovered a nest,' some 12 feet above ground, which: housed a noisy baby tui.

The nearest residence :to the camp was the' Anikiwa Homestead, reached by a .walk of a mile and a half through magnificent, bush, or by rowing round the cliffs, although the arrival of the launch with >> mail and stores every second; day, • kept away any feeling of isolation.

The JDavies' Bay camp provided all the essentials for a delightful, holiday. Swimming, fishing, rowing, bush walks, sunbathing, launch cruises,, handcrafts, leisure, good meals—all contributed to the health'and well being of the girls. It was with great regret that campers returned to the city from their little paradise,' all' of them determined to make Davies' Bay their 'mecca again next year.
