WOOL AT WANGANUI

KEEN COMPETITION

Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on the Wanganui wool sale, in progress today. Our catalogue was the first to be offered this morning. A full offering of 30,000 bales was submitted. The quality, and condition being average. Many of the wools. showed fine quality, .with a big proportion being of carding lengths. ' 'Owing to the late shearing seed was prevalent. Competition was exceptionally keen with buying well spread, and it is pleasing to be able to report that both English and German buyers operated freely. Tlie selection was very suitable for Continental purposes, .which brought keen bidding from France, Germany, .and Belgium. Fine wools were keenly competed for, as also were medium to low top-making sorts. In regard to prices, • these showed but little variation from the last Wellington and Napier sales', also probably the finer carding wools can be quoted in sellers' favour.

Growers so far have met the market freely, and at the end of our sale we have disposed of 98 per cent, under the hammer.
