EXCURSION TO PICTON
The excursion made to Picton yesterday by the Union Company's Rangatira was. patronised by 1730 persons. The unpromising .morning mist was soon left behind- and bright sunshine and smooth seas were ■ experienced throughout the whole trip. Picton was reached in 2 hours 24 minutes,, the average speed.of the ship being 21.66 knots." A very pleasant time was spent ashore, at Picton, the weather being gloriously fine. The return trip started at 2:30 p.m., and was made in about the same time as the outward journey, and each of the many excursionists was thoroughly-pleased with the day's outing..... ..
