(Received December 27, 1 p.m.) CAPE TOWN, December 26. The magnificent but awesome spectacle of Table Mountain fiercely ablaze confronted people; emerging from the churches on Christmas morning. The blaze began on the city side of the slopes and swept up the peak, from which dislodged boulders were rattled into the valley. Seven hundred people were fighting the flames, which swept down the northern side and at one time threatened the Prime Minister's official residence. It was saved by. a fortuitous change of wind. . ■ ■ . Already pine belts worth £250,000 have been destroyed, the flames from which were 200 feet high.
