(Received December 27i 1 p.m.) NEW YORK. December 26. At least seventy pe.rsons lost their lives in a bitter Christmas blizzard. Most of the fatalities were attributable to automobile' accidents caused by the blinding snow and the icy roads, but many deaths" were due directly to exposure. Sub-zero temperatures, which are continuing today throughout the Middle West, reached 22 degrees below at Devil's Lake, North Dakota, while temperatures of 10 degrees below were common. Snow-drifts ten feet deep are reported in many districts. . ' :
